16. EFFORTS TO INCREASE GREEN COVER TO 500 SQ. KM. BY PROMOTING PLANTATION
IN DEGRADED AREA.
DPGS has taken up 6 Acre plantation in Gazipur Drain through NGO in IFDC area.
Developed 10 Acres degraded area to a nursery.
41.DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF 1000 PARKS BY 2012 IN COLONIES.
Encouraging RWA efforts towards greening.
42. 05 MILLION POTTED PLANTS.
0.83 Million potted plants by DPGS prepared. 4.25 Lakh plants displayed in different CWG and other sites while rest displayed in the nursery. 2.95 Lakh plants given to other Departments for plantation etc.. Rest are being given to other Departments and RWA parks.
43.1000 PARKS ARE TO BE DEVELOPED.
90 RWAs/NGOs through DPGS scheme.
417 parks have been taken up through DPGS.
Now JEEVAN CENTRES are also engaged in helping RWAs/NGOs to take up greening of Parks &Gardens through Delhi Parks &Gardens Society.
44.DRY LEA &GREEN WASTE TO COMPOST.
10 compost pits are being developed by RWAs through DPGS in parks.
Efforts to developed Nucleus group for compost business from parks/communities. At the moment own need for compost is being met by RWA through production of composts being made in parks or through purchases.
45. 1000 SCHOOL VEGETABLE GARDENS TO BE DEVELOPED.
List of schools having more area (> 5 ACRES) under school premises for growing vegetable, being sought from Education Department.
46. 10 HERBAL GARDENS IN SCHOOL AND PARKS.
2 Herbal Gardens in RWA parks are being developed by RWAs through DPGS scheme.
1 proposal for Herbal Garden in School has been obtained and action is being taken.
47. PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO LOW INCOME GROUPS FOR GREENING CAMPAIGN IN
FGH COLONIES.
In touch with Samajik Suvidha Sangam to carry out activities:-
1 proposal received.
In touch with Rehabilitation Department, proposed to create 6 Sections while inventory &photography of the spaces/parks is in progress.
In touch with Development Department (Horticulture Wing) to be involved in greening activities in Rural and Urban Villages.
In touch with DSIIDC for greenery in 2 industrial areas (Narela and Bawana)
